Packed with ideas from doctors, athletes, influencers, and chefs leading the movement who are effecting change in cooking, health, and the planet. Each episode is filmed in the top vegan culinary destinations with a special host as we travel to America, Germany, Israel, the UK, China, and Australia.

A short summary of the issue the documentary is addressing

EATING PLANTS was designed to help people move towards a plant based diet. This diet has been scientifically proven to be an effective method to prevent the onset of several chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes and some cancers, which are the three major killers in the western world. The special report on climate change and land by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) describes plant-based diets as a major opportunity for mitigating and adapting to climate change.

What is the impact vision statement of the documentary?

The Eating Plants series be used by NGOs, institutions, families and individuals to educate and inspire change in eating, shopping, health responsibilities and create positive steps for climate action. It is an upbeat series that entertains and educates this global movement towards a plant based diet.

Outcomes

What outcomes does the project hope to achieve from making this documentary?

Short term outcome: audiences will learn about the benefits of a plant based diet for their health and for the planet. They will learn from the doctors, nutritionists, chefs about what to eat, what to buy, how to cook and move toward having more plants on their plates.
Medium term outcomes: We are working with NGOs that are focused on climate change, health and animal welfare. They are planning to use the series as an educational tool for their clients and communities. We are also reaching out to schools and educational institutes to partner and use the series as an educational tool and discuss changes in their diet and food offered in their institutions.
Long term outcomes: We will push for dietary changes in institutions, looking to address the major medical disease in our communities and change the paradigm of using food as preventative medicine. As many people are now concerned about the climate crisis this series will provide a strong option for people to take action

Activities

How will this documentary achieve its outcomes?

We created an upbeat educational series that will inspire audiences to change their diets, use their purchasing power to change the food on the shelves, take action towards a healthy future and sustainable life on the planet. We are working towards across many social media platforms with outreach to a local and global audiences to create change. We are already building relationships with a multitude of NGOS and institutions to assist in their programs. We see the series being an informative educational tool that will initiate discussion, challenge old myths allowing people to make informed choices and not be swayed by the advertising pressure of the food industry. Part of the fundraising will include funding an educational kit that will help this family friendly program be utilized in schools and other institutions.

Audience Engagement and Social Impact

What actions does this project hope for its viewers after seeing this film?

This series is a perfect tool for community groups to discuss and share the issues. We are strong advocates of community screenings with our last film supporting over 200 community screenings. Local leaders are invited to host events, look at what is available in their region as far as supporting local farmers and food producers. They run their own Q+As after the screenings which the creators are often invited to join. Our website provides recipes from the show and gives links to all the experts that are featured in the filming. The series offers the viewers practical steps to trial plant based diets on a day to day basis. It also introduces new products like vegan eggs, milk, fish and meat that give the audience new options to buy and try.

Measurement and Evaluation

What is the projects indicators for success?

We are at the forefront of creating series on this topic. We are following social media analytics that are showing positive interaction and engagement already. The trailer has already had over 250K views after 3 weeks. We will work with NGOs to shift dietary changes in individuals and institutions' lives, There are already great programs including Veganuary, No Meat May and Meat Free Mondays that we are building partnerships with to provide upbeat content. Plant based diets is a growing trend in Australia and across the globe and we will work with organizations to encourage people across the community to make choices that impact us all. we will see from the growth in plant based consumers the change in supermarket shelves.
