‘All That We Are’ is a story about a local community coming together to create a spectacular aerial performance for the Penrith Real Festival. Through the eyes of the artistic directors and 30 volunteers, the film takes the audience on a journey of a diverse group of individuals, without any performing experience, as they come together to overcome
their fears and doubts in a jaw-dropping aerial performance. Harnessed and craned 30 meters into the sky over the Nepean River, the experience changes each performer as they learn to work together, help each other, and overcome their individual struggles and those of the community. The film explores the beginning of a personal journey for many of the volunteers, as they discover their creativity and identity through this incredible experience. With the artistic directors’ vision of providing art to a community of beginners without the restriction of years of professional training, All That We Are highlights the power of community and the impact of art in shaping lives. The performers come from all backgrounds, including immigrant communities, individuals with physical challenges, and different abilities, and leave as a united group, having shared an unforgettable experience.
Shortly after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Media Arts & Production) degree in 2005 at the University of Technology, Sydney, Rory flew off to New York to pursue love and career possibilities. Rory started off creating cocktails for Midwesterner tourists in Times Square as he completed an internship at Nitrous Ltd., a prestigious boutique post-production house.
Upon completing the internship, Rory became a staff Assistant Editor at Nitrous Ltd. and honed a wide range of skills including editing, motion graphics, grading, offline/online workflow and mastering. Eventually the changing winds flew Rory across the pond where he landed in London in 2010. Rory started as an Editor and Motion Graphics Artist at Zebra-Crossing / DDB UK working on commercials, brand films and corporate videos for clients such as Virgin, Philips and Hertz. Additionally, Rory joined ESPN’s Grand Slam Tennis coverage working as an Ingest Manager and later as a Motion Graphics Artist, which sees him flying around the world chasing the sun.
In 2014 Rory returned to Australia and is developing a still growing roster of clients which now include BSkyB, Seven, Nine and Ten to name a few. Rory is excited to work on a diverse range of work from documentaries to commercials and promos.
