When the seas of the climate emergency rise before them, two Torres Strait leaders Uncle Paul and Pabai rise up too and sue the Australian Government for climate harm in a landmark court case to save their homelands, Boigu and Saibai.
From the team of ‘In My Blood It Runs, ‘The Quickening’ is a collaborative feature documentary led by communities of Boigu and Saibai that intimately follows the claimants through his landmark climate litigation case. Beyond the legal dispute, this is a multigenerational emotional story of the people where stories of children, families and Elders are woven to show what is really at stake.
The team are excited to bring community ideas to life such as timetravel, pastiche, and soaring aerial shots, that creatively express what it feels like when those that contribute the least to climate change are hit first by the climate emergency.
