Detective Narelle Fraser thinks she’s bullet proof, until her empathy becomes her undoing. She realises she cannot save everyone and the price she pays is the destruction of her own mental state. During 27 years working for Victoria Police Force, Narelle continually saves lives and champions victims. Her easy manner for gaining rapport with perpetrators leads to the conviction of many of Australia’s most heinous criminals. However, the constant daily exposure to horrific crimes, has a cumulative effect on her mental health. After suffering panic and amnesia, she receives a diagnosis of PTSD, forcing her discharge from the Police. THE POLICEWOMAN, through one woman’s journey, speaks for millions of first responders, highlighting the stigma of mental health.
