The project’s vision is to normalise and hero the broadcasting and media coverage of women in sport and provide inspiring, world-class, female role models for future generations. Angeline’s heritage as a Monero Ngarigo and Yuin woman adds a significant cultural dimension to the documentary, with an increasing interest in stories that highlight the experiences of Indigenous athletes, offering a unique perspective that enriches the documentary’s appeal.

This film aims to be bigger than a feature documentary. The project’s vision is to normalise and hero the broadcasting and media coverage of women in sport and provide inspiring, world-class, female role models for future generations.

We want Angeline’s story and truth telling to shed a light on the gender bias in sports, and to create more awareness and resources to better support female athletes, their bodies, and their emotional wellbeing.
We hope to encourage more young girls to participate and compete in sport, while also providing an inspiring story for people of all ages to learn from.

Lara Sinclair, director of the film, competed in athletics herself for more than 10 years, and has a strong understanding of the sport at multiple levels. She has also know Angeline for roughly 12 years, having followed her journey as both a training partner and friend. This relationship has fostered significant trust between the filmmakers and the talent, allowing for greater access and insight into Angeline’s background, family, and community.

Donation opportunities for the ‘Raise the Bar Academy’ – a program aimed to inspire and develop the capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary school students to pursue lifelong participation in and enjoyment of athletics.
