The She Shines short film is a short documentary built off the back of a listening campaign from survivors of family violence. The film explores the critical moments in a woman’s life where her sense of self-worth is tested. These moments vary in magnitude, from seemingly insignificant to profound and undeniable, illustrating the pervasive nature of such experiences throughout women’s lives. Realised through recreations, by different women of varying ages we communicate the unfortunate universality of these moments. Most women have experienced versions of these threats their entire life.
As the film nears its climax, our characters encounter women who have broken free from these challenges, rewriting their stories and reclaiming their lives.
We navigate this complex storyline in a visually engaging and stylistically stunning manner, drawing inspiration from works like The Princess Bride or Boy Swallows Universe.
She Shines culminates with a powerful call to action, providing viewers with direct access to resources and encouraging those with the means to support initiatives aimed at combating domestic and family violence.
