Dr Mark Cross was illegally gay. He believes that the fear of imprisonment and shame is the root of his lifetime anxiety disorder, and he wants to make sure it doesn’t happen to others.
Described by The Australian as “charming and witty” Dr Mark Cross is one of Australia’s most respected psychiatrists.
He’s open about being gay, and open about his anxiety disorder he believes is rooted in growing up closeted in South Africa, where homosexuality carried a seven year jail sentence.
Now with his rainbow family, he’s returning to his High School to see how much has changed in the intervening decades. No longer illegal, and supported by the school, are today’s LGBTQI+young people part of an inclusive and caring society?
This is a literal and psychological journey for Mark and his family that will change them forever, and may calm his anxiety. Or will it?
