Keenan hasn’t returned to his Dad’s Country since childhood. Nearly 30 years later, as a father of 3living in the city, Keenan wants to rebuild his relationship with his Dad, Lydon, and learn more about his culture. Keenan drives 10 hours to spend a week with Lydon in Cundeelee, an Aboriginal mission in Western Australia where Lydon was born and taught how to make traditional artefacts. Here,Lydon will pass this cultural knowledge onto Keenan as they both make a woomera, side by side. As they journey together on Country, Keenan learns more about his Dad, and the Anangu way of life.
Tace Stevens is a Noongar and Spinifex woman from Western Australia. She is a documentary photographer and emerging filmmaker based in Sydney. In 2017, Tace’s creative journey began in writing and photography. She completed a Diploma of Creative and Indigenous Writing at Charles Darwin University and started working as a photographer’s assistant.
In 2021, Tace completed the BA: Screen Production at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. She wrote and directed her graduate film, To Be Silent, a short documentary about identity and code-switching, told through animation and poetic live action re-enactments. This film was selected by AFTRS for distribution. With a background in community development and education, Tace wants to be a part of stories that challenge, educate, and entertain. Stories that are authentic and reflect the diversities of the communities she lives in and beyond.
