Join Documentary Australia CEO Mitzi Goldman in conversation with Debra Zimmerman, Executive Director of Women Make Movies (WMM), who since 1983 has led the New York based non-profit and social enterprising organisation that supports women filmmakers.

During Debra’s tenure, Women Make Movies has grown into the largest distributor of films by and about women in the world. We will be discussing the partnership between Documentary Australia and Women Make Movies, and our shared passion in enabling women’s voices to be heard.

We will also explore the philanthropic context in support for documentary in the USA, and how filmmakers here can work with us to access funding for projects that would be of interest to USA funders.

Central to the work we have both been doing for many years is how to harness documentary storytelling for much needed social change. There has never been a more urgent need for more women’s voices to be heard across the spectrum of leadership and experience.
