Documentary Australia

Benjamin Wiesner

Benjamin is an emerging documentary filmmaker with a background in environmental science and community engagement. After publishing his thesis on improving community focused rainforest restoration in Indonesia and working for the Australian government in some of its most remote territories, he realised the importance of storytelling to draw attention to the socio-economic issues that our remote communities face. Benjamin has spent the last 1.5 years diving into the world of filmmaking and building his network and expertise on small commercial film productions. Staying in close contact with the communities he formerly worked with, he has been preparing himself for a shift to impact-driven documentaries, underpinned by his technical background, his connection to community and a firm belief that all great stories are told with, not about, their subjects.
