‘The Home Straight’ reveals the trials and triumphs of Australian elite sprinter, Angeline Blackburn. The 40-minute feature explores the ways in which the 34-year-old endured two broken feet, the loss of an AIS scholarship as a teen, and tragedy in her personal life, yet went on to make the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Team. The film also shines a light on Angie’s endeavours off the track as she gives back to first nations communities, and advocates for women and girls in sport as a mentor with Athletics Australia’s ‘Raise the Bar’ Academy.
The film involves an all-access pass into Angie’s life, including the day-to-day grind of training on the track and in the gym, and working a full-time job. This will be accompanied by archival race footage and key personnel interviews.
