At age six, George was sexually abused by a neighbour. His father caught the man in the act, but the rest of the family was never told. The smouldering truth was subsequentlynburied, known only to George and his father. In his teens, George was abused again. He fled to Queensland, carrying the unbearable weight of his silence and became lost in a vortex of alcoholic self-destruction. Over the years, George’s distressed and helpless family could only watch as George slowly disappeared into a life of pain, confusion, and isolation. Forty years later, George finally spoke out. In this powerful and redemptive story, George and his siblings confront the past and ask… How could this happen in our family? In any family?
