CLIMATE CHANGERS

Climate Changers is a call for action on LEADERSHIP… Whilst climate change is more accepted than a decade ago, the requirement for urgent action is not being embraced. Every year lost in not acting doubles the need for action in the next year. The pace is accelerating. Tim Flannery speaks with authority and gentle persuasion like few others in Australia. The scale is of the problem is global, but the solutions are bestowed on each of us. Our current crop of political leaders continues to fail us. As Tim says, anyone can be a leader. And we need more leaders! Tim’s enthusiasm and willpower is riveting. This is a wake-up call for action. Every one of us needs to be part of the solution, and any one of us can be a leader!

Our film needs to inspire us all to action. Climate changer is people problem — people need to lead us out of the problem. That means not only changing our personal ways, but more importantly, it’s about influencing others, and advocating for change with everyone around us, and becoming a LEADER. Too often we leave leadership to others. Tim’s observation, and challenge, is that we can all become leaders. This film is about HOPE for change and inspiring ACTION now… Our intention is that Climate Changers will get people talking. Screenings will lead debate into calling for more leadership, better leadership, leadership now, and leadership from us all.

Our primary goal is inspire those sitting on the fence about becoming active. So many people now know climate change is a clear and present danger, but don’t feel empowered to act, or lead. Our film is aimed at motivating those people to get active. Climate change is a people problem, and people power can fix it!
Our secondary goal is hold our current crop of leaders to account, and motivate them to do a better job: political, business (particularly energy industry), community, faith, and school leaders. We seek change at the personal, community, corporate and society level.

Producer Mark Forstmann has long-standing relationships with Climate Project since 2007; with ACF and BushHeritage through charitable work; and professionally in the funds management industry with Ethical Investment Advisors and Future Super (Simon Sheikh). Mark was on the board of Nature Conservation Trust of NSW. His cred for climate science and action has secured Tim Flannery to our project. Director Johan Gabrielsson has worked on other climate-related documentaries, including developing The Climate Wars. The urgent and heartfelt approach to the film is borne from the creators’ history and knowledge of the subject matter.
