Featuring stories about hand-planting 5000 trees and removing tonnes of plastics off our remote beaches, to participating in massive citizen science projects to help save forests and volunteering on adventurous weeding tours – this series covers the serious issues facing our environment, while also focused on solutions.
Fun, inspiring and positive, this project asks – What if the retirement crowd, with all of their wisdom, patience and free time are exactly what our wounded planet needs right now?
Silver Power is an ambitious project using story to activate and inspire a generation. The goal is to create a national conversation to inspire thousands of Australian retirees to connect with environmental groups and use their freedom, time and resources to leave a lasting legacy.
Once the Australian chapter is created, we will pass to producers in other countries to inspire retirees across the globe.
Lara has a 25 year career working in broadcast television. She previously worked as a producer creating content for the ABC, National Geographic, MBC in Dubai and the creative agency BDA in London. She has directed over 70 short films including documentaries selected for Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, Canberra Short Film Festival, Byron Bay International Film Festival and St Kilda Film Festival. She is the producer of the web-series Women of the Island (21 Festivals with multiple fest award wins). She was recently commissioned by the ABC to make the impact film Road Kill Warriors for the iView Your Planet series and was the editor for the Walkley finalist feature documentary Mary Meets Mohammad.
