The Prepared Bystanders is an online community of members who share the common goal of wanting to provide best-practice care to people + pets involved in a road incident. Through educational films, shared experiences, live Q&A panels and support, we aim to be confident first responders managing a scene with others, strangers most likely, until emergency services take over.
While first aid courses give us a baseline understanding of casualty management, there is not enough time to learn specifics of road crashes, multiple casualties and the different types of dangers the scene may present. In addition, the resources available to emotionally and psychologically support the person who has helped at a crash are not widely known. By bringing all this together into one location, an online community, we hope to increase the help available at an incident to those who need it, and improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of each and every person involved.
