Alofa’ meaning ‘To Love’ in Samoan, explores the the trials and tribulations of Samoan ex pastor Andre Afamasaga, who fought to reconcile his faith, culture and sexual identity.
Rachel’s most recent feature documentary, ‘Charmian Clift – Life Burns High’ which she wrote, produced, and directed; was selected as part of the Sydney Film Festival in 2024 and was broadcast on Foxtel from August in the same year. ‘Alofa’ which she also wrote, produced and directed, screened on ABC in 2024. It was nominated for ‘Best Short Documentary’ at the 2025 AIDC Awards.
Her previous documentary ‘Faithfully Me’ which again she wrote, produced and directed, was purchased by the ABC and was broadcast in 2020.
The film was part of the official selection at the St Kilda Film Festival in 2021. She received a nomination for Best Director at the Australian Directors Guild Awards in the same year.
She was a producer on the 2019 Aussie feature film ‘Bilched’ which had a national theatrical release and was awarded Best Film at Chelsea Film Festival , New York.
Rachel has also had other projects screened nationally on both SBS and NITV.
