STTOP – Stay Tuned To Our Planet

In extension to the STTOP series, the free STTOP Education Program was officially released, developed in partnership with Quadrant Media. All 64 resources in the program are mapped to the ACARA Science and Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum and aligned with the Sustainability Cross-Curriculum Priority. Along with the free lessons and activities, the program includes STTOP videos, worksheets and teacher support materials. Since launch, we have also completed ACARA code mapping to the Victorian and NSW curricula, ensuring accessibility and relevance for teachers nationwide.
Promotion of the program has been broad and strategic. A media campaign generated press and social media coverage, supported by both paid and organic online promotions throughout Australia. Live webinars were presented to education organisations including ACARA, the Australian Association for Environmental Education, Southern Cross University, and Monash University.
As of early October, 2025 the program has been accessed by 119 schools across Australia with 440 downloads of the resources. We continue to monitor uptake and engage with teachers through feedback and resource-sharing channels.
In August 2025, the team represented the project at the national Education Summit held in Melbourne. Over two days, the group hosted a roundtable presentation that demonstrated the educational resources and provided an information booth for attendees. The event created valuable networking opportunities with teachers, curriculum experts, and partner organisations.
Through partnerships with Orygen Institute, headspace, and Psychology for a Safe Climate, we have developed a bespoke teacher support resource “Climate Emotions in the Classroom: Practical Tips for teachers” that aims to:
– Support educators to teach climate and environment topics confidently
– Address climate-related emotions among students
– Promote mental wellbeing and resilience in classroom contexts
In September 2025, we co-hosted a national webinar with Orygen to showcase STTOP and launch the teacher support resource. The webinar included a panel discussion on Climate Emotions in the Classroom and Q&A with panelists from Orygen, headspace, University of Melbourne, Wesley Mission Queensland and STTOP.
Additionally, STTOP has been invited by the Orygen Institute to participate in ‘Eco Connections’, a green social prescribing initiative aimed at young people (18–24 years). This 2026 project will explore the role of extra-curricular environmental activities in supporting mental health outcomes, and may extend to younger people (12-15 years) in 2027.
Support from the Green Eyes Foundation since June 2025 has expanded marketing and outreach capacity.

The STTOP2030 website has been built, the social media campaign launched, and 28 episodes have been released.
Three STTOP episodes were screened at the Documentary Australia – Environmental Accelerator Film Festival and our Biodiversity episode screened as part of a special Environmental Accelerator Film Festival panel and Q&A with our Host Mat McKenna.

Through Documentary Australia – we were included at TedX Youth 2024, screening STTOP episode ‘Power Up’ with Host Mat McKenna participating in a Q& A.
ReachOut, have partnered using STTOP content on lessons for PDHPE, released 25th October, 2024. All STTOP public facing material to date has been reviewed by headspace as a duty of care and they are initiating a ‘first’ ever series of watch parties with their clientele in December, 2024. In addition, Orygen Institute are working with us to create an impact survey and teacher resources for our Pilot program that will be used throughout the pilot and program distribution.
Working with Quadrant Media we have developed our Education offering for students in years 5–9, mapping content to the Sustainability ACARA Cross-curriculum Priority across Science, Humanities, and Geography.
With further funding, we plan to expand the program to include English, Media Studies, The Arts, and Design, making it relevant for key school calendar dates like World Environment Day, after-school and holiday workshops, and an annual STTOP Schools Environment Week initiative.
We have been included by Orygen Institute and Melbourne University as an industry partner in their NHMRC grant application for Research and Interventions in Youth Mental Health and Environment program. We have also been included in the ANU & headspace NHMRC grant for mental health research linked to climate change.
Plans for use of the STTOP teacher and education resources to be piloted at Southern Cross university in their environmental studies as part of their Teacher Training program.

We are in production of the series and are filming between now and the end of the year with the aim to complete the final episodes early in 2024.

In October we held two very successful webinars to give organisations from the Climate and Youth Mental Health sectors a sneak peek of the series and consult with them about our approach. We have taken on this feedback into the design and planning of our Impact Campaign and engaged allies to work with us developing and promoting the series and our resources.

We have commenced the design of our STTOP website that will house the YouTube episodes, showcase the eco-warriors and provide resources to educators and professionals including the research behind each episode, educational resources along with Take Action and Support pages.

In early 2024 we will build the website and social media channels in preparation for launch in Q2 2024 and pending funding we will contract our educational resource provider.
