As Colombia’s peace process leaves park rangers stranded in legal limbo, the film follows Gisela Paredes over 3 years as she sets out across some of the country’s most dangerous and isolated territories to collect testimonies from those living on the front lines of environmental conflict.
Traveling through regions shaped by guerrilla warfare, illegal mining, coca cultivation, and displacement, we watch as Gisela gathers the stories that will form an unprecedented legal case demanding recognition for both nature and the people who protect it.
Through intimate vérité filmmaking and emotionally observant moments immersed in the natural world, Gisela navigates the emotional weight of carrying these stories while confronting a system that may never acknowledge the sacrifices made to defend Colombia’s wilderness.
But years after the report is submitted, the case remains stalled inside Colombia’s Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), while violence against environmental defenders continues to rise. As hope begins to fade, Gisela finds herself in a race against time to ensure these lives, memories, and territories are not erased from history.
