Award-winning writer, director & actor, Sally McLean began work in TV with the BBC (UK) on documentary programs such as Bookmark, before forming Incognita Enterprises under Honorary Patron Sir Nigel Hawthorne KB, CBE. She is Creator/Director of the multi award-winning series Shakespeare Republic, Dark Arcadia & Walking Shadows, receiving funding from the British Shakespeare Association, Creative Australia, Creative Victoria & the City of Melbourne. She has presented panels on filmmaking for Melbourne Web Fest, NYC Web Fest, NZ Web Fest & St Kilda Film Festival. Her work as a director is included in the official collection at Australia’s National Film & Sound Archive & discussed in books published by Routledge, Bloomsbury & Oxford University Press, most recently “Authenticity and Adaptation” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025), where her work is analysed in depth alongside filmmakers Guillermo Del Toro, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Zac Snyder, Taika Waititi & James Gunn, among others.
