The arts is a notoriously undervalued and undernourished part of Australian communities and culture in a time where creativity should be at the forefront of all that we do.

Should extensive professionally lead access to the arts be a human right? Is deliberate practice a fundamental skill to be celebrated? How do we best approach education in this highly technological world? Can creativity, resilience in individuals and the community, be developed concurrently?

The documentary’s message is to celebrate and encourage the profound value of the arts on community and culture, explore the universal experiences of youth development and education and view the real social benefits of music, music education, group singing and the voice. Specifically, it looks at the impact of a professionally structured music environment on the emotional and analytical development of boys.

We hope to stimulate discussion and long-form action, in recognition of the intrinsic values the arts pose for society when fully embraced.

Wide ranging permissions and filming had been discussed, decided and coordinated with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Opera Australia and Sydney Opera House; as a director/producer, Dion had been provided extensive access to auditions through to closing night, the associated creatives, and the children themselves, to document and discuss.
The remaining historic material to be filmed is yet to be confirmed, though engages existing relationships.
Dion has received encouragement at every step of the road.
