For eighteen years, Australian circus icons Briefs Factory have electrified audiences with burlesque, drag, and breathtaking aerial acrobatics, cultivating a global following through their signature blend of humour, political bite, and queer and First Nations artistry.
Now, the ‘Briefs boys’ are coming home.
Piled into a revamped minibus, six world-class artists journey into the heart of regional Australia on a groundbreaking tour named Backtrack, performing in town halls and outback pubs far from the city spotlight from Queensland to Western Australia. For a troupe that grew up in remote communities, Backtrack isn’t merely a Priscilla-style road trip; it’s a homecoming, a celebration, and a challenge – can they become the role models they once needed? And can queer pride and positive masculinity thrive in the outback today?
On the bus are the fierce and fabulous Fez Faanana, Mark Winmill, Dale Woodbridge-Brown, Luke Hubbard, Dylan Rodriguez, and Rowan Thomas, an extraordinary found family bursting with boisterous humour and tender care. In a moment defined by culture wars and widening divides, this documentary offers a counterpoint: a story of joy, resilience, and unexpected connections.
