Synopsis

DURATION: 40 MINUTES

A BLUE HOPE is a documentary film that explores the ocean’s vast potential to;
store large amounts of carbon using seaweed;
reduce methane emissions in livestock through CSIRO's seaweed feed;
feed the world’s growing population in a rapidly changing climate using regenerative
methods;
help protect the worlds largest coral reef, Australia’s very own ‘Great Barrier Reef’;
reverse the impacts of climate change; and
Explore the mindset shift required to make it all possible.

Issue Summary

Carbon is often portrayed in a negative way in media and industry as carbon emissions are the main cause of climate change.
What if we saw carbon as the solution? What if we could use it to regenerate our forests, oceans and soils while simultaneously
reversing the impacts of climate change?
We feel helpless as individuals to make any difference in the fight against the time we have left to solve the climate crisis, which
is why we need rapid solutions in a quickly changing world. Seaweed might just be part of the answer we are looking for, and it's a simple solution that we can all contribute to.

Impact

What is the impact vision statement of the documentary?

To not only inform a wide audience of the cruciality of regenerating our oceans to
help balance the climate, but to create an empowering vision that incorporates
social, environmental and economic solutions that will ultimately reimagine the
way we think and do.
The outcome is to raise awareness on the potential that seaweed farming has as a climate solution and to generate interest from grassroot levels to government for policy reform and industry momentum.
